One Decision Will Change Your Life

One Decision Will Change Your Life

In the Old Testament book of Deuteronomy Moses instructs the people of God to make a decision to "choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:" (Deut.30:19) Joshua, the predecessor of Moses told the people of God to "choose you this day whom ye will serve:" (Joshua 24:15)

Life is filled with choices and decisions to make each day; some are easy no brainers and other's are pressing, heart wrenching...just plain difficult. However, one fact holds true in that it only takes one decision to change your life forever. Whether it be for good or for bad, for better or for worse, our decisions we make daily help frame the life we live and the lives of those closest to us.

One of the greatest decisions I ever made was March 1, 1998 when I came to myself and realized I could no longer fight my alcoholism alone, and I cried out to God for help. That decision changed my life forever in that, in spite of the life I'd lived God was faithful to His word. David said, "this poor man cried, and the Lord heard him,and saved him out of all his troubles." Psalm 34:6

Like King David, I had fallen short time and again, yet when I made a decision to cry unto the Lord He saved me and set me in a new place. He saved me, healed, delivered, and restored me, all of which changed not only me but the lives of everyone around me. Setting me on the path and course of my appointed destiny.

3 Tips For Making Right Decisions

  • Make sure your decision is in line with God's Word...God's Word is God's will for our life. Therefore we must make His Word the final authority in our life and in every decision we make. Ask your self, "Does my decision line up with what God says ?" If it does then it's the right decision, if not then you'll need to re-think things and search God's Word for instruction.

  • Follow your heart...David said in Psalm 119:11 "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." To sin is to miss the mark, make the wrong decision, therefore we must put the Word of God in our heart then follow after what we know to be truth, in order to lead us down the right path.

  • Do not second guess your decision...James the apostle said, "a double minded man is unstable in all his ways. (James 1:8) Once you know that your decision lines up with God's Word, you are following what you know to be truth, then don't go back and forth questioning your self. This is being double minded, make your decision and stand upon it. The enemy will attack you in your double mindedness because it makes you vulnerable, it will bring about fear and fear tolerated is faith contaminated.

I want to encourage you today to put the seed of God's Word into your life and allow Him to lead you and direct you in your every endeavor. You may say, "Well, I don't know God let alone His Word." Well, that it's very simple too...just pray this simple prayer, "Lord Jesus, forgive me of my sins, come into my heart, and from this day forward be Lord of my life". (Romans 10:9-13)

If you've said that simple prayer from your heart today, then you've made the greatest decision you'll ever make and your life has now been changed forever.

In Christ

  1. And He said,"Let your Yes be Yes and your No be No. Anthing else is from the evil one.
I use the following acronym for making my decisions to line up with God's will, "Wiifg" What's in it for God? and not Wiifm, What's in for Me?
If we make our decisions on What's in it for God, we will be living and doing God's work in the world.
