Faith For Adverse Times
In the hour we live each of us are finding ourselves in the midst of adverse times. Whether it's the losing of a loved one, which I just experienced in the passing of my only sister on mother's day, financial struggles or the dealing with a child who is battling addictions, it seems as if adversity is no respecter of person. I have found that it is in these times that try our faith and test our character not only as believer's but as a person as well.
The bible teaches us in James 1:2-4 to "Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing." NASB
I don't know about you, but I find it hard to consider a trial joy, however I've come to understand that trials, adverse times have a purpose in that it is in these times the Lord uses to develop us in Him. Romans 5:3-5 says "knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us." NASB
We must have the revelation that when we get down to nothing, God is up to something. Everything God does or allows has a purpose, therefore we must have faith in Him to pull us through each situation. Many times we feel as if we don't have enough faith to get through situations, but I want to encourage you today and tell you that since we were created in God's image we possess the same amount of faith that Jesus did to die on the cross and believe the Father would raise Him again.
Did you know it is faith which causes God to move or to cause our situation to change? God does not respond to our need but He responds to our faith. So in spite of what's going on around us we must walk by what we know rather than what we see. So how do we increase our faith for adverse times? Romans 10:17 says "So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God."KJV
When we are down we must declare that according to the word of God "we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us." Rom.8:37; When we are sick we must proclaim "with His stripes we are healed." Isa.53:5; and when the enemy is set out against us we must bold confess in the name of Jesus "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; " Isa 54:17
The speaking of God's word releases our faith for victory over every situation, for His word is alive, it will not return void but rather accomplish that which it was purposed to do. Stand on God's holy promises today friends irregardless of what things look like and you'll be able to have faith for adverse times.
